Today, on the anniversary of the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia, Jan Rýdl sn was awarded the Medal of Merit, 1st class, from the President of the Czech Republic (for meritorious services to the state in economic area). This is a very significant appraisal of his lifetime work.
The detailed rationale reads: “During the economic transformation in the nineties, he, as he puts it, “took charge of the manufacturer of machining equipment TOS Varnsdorf”. He, together with his colleagues, privatized the company with over a hundred years of history, in which he had been working since 1978, and then brought it out of crisis. Today, TOS VARNSDORF employs almost 500 people in the frontier town of Varnsdorf and additional 250 in its subsidiaries in Rumburk and Olomouc. It has three production plants abroad and a sales network in tens of countries. In 2018, TOS achieved sales of CZK 1.7 billion. In 2018, he received the award of the Manager of the Quarter-Century for his longstanding contribution to Czech engineering industry."
The granting of this high national award is a great appreciation for Jan Rýdl for his lifelong activities in Czech engineering. We congratulate Mr Rýdl to his Medal of Merit, 1st class.
